Small Developement In The Case of the Spring Hill 3
A determination has been made as of this morning to move forward with complaints against the Hernando County Sheriff Deputies involved in the harassment of 3 black teens in Spring Hill, Florida. This determination was made after a video, recorded by one of the teens was reviewed by that teens grandparents.
On Friday, September 21 2007, at approximately 8:30 pm, in Spring Hill, Florida, 3 black male teenagers left a house located on Landover Blvd., walking, as the house was just down the street from the local high school, to go to the football game being played there. They had walked about 150 feet when all of a sudden, they saw a local police car speed by them, traveling in the same direction. Suddenly, after speeding past them, the police car made an abrupt 'u' turn and pulled onto the grass easement, with their car facing the teens. The cops got out of their car and started questioning the teens, asking names, availability of id, etc. The problem was that, two of these three teens were constitutional scholars, and took immediate offence at being harassed by the local gestapo agents. The teens asked to leave and were denied that right. The teens asked to call home and were initially denied that right, though ultimately they were allowed to call the home they had just left. Eventually, one of the gestapo lads came to the house mentioned above, my house, and began to talk to me about the attitudes of the teens. I asked him if the teens were breaking any laws. I asked him if, prior to being stopped, the young men had done anything wrong. Finally I asked if they were doing anything that even gave the impression that they were out of order. The answer to all of these questions was NO!!!! The cop was more concerned with the fact that the young men were insulted, angered, and surprised by the fact that they had even been accosted by the cops. Because the gestapo dual was upset with the fact that the teens resented being terrorized by them, the cops told the teens that they could not go to the football game, since, with the attitudes they, the teens, had toward the cops, they constituted a behavior problem at the game!! Is this a 'crock' or what????!!! We plan on filing an action against the police. What do you guys think?
